Are orchids very expensive to have in bouquets?

I'm looking for floral ideas for my wedding and fell in love with bouquets of just orchids and I'm looking at basing all my floral on orchids.....are they are a more expensive flower choice?

Are orchids very expensive to have in bouquets?
Orchids are some of the more expensive flowers, but they're in season in Florida through spring, so that's a good thing for you. Some species of orchids are less expensive than other, so you might consider using the cheaper variety.

Reply:Yeah They are the more expensive choice especially if you want them in an off season...
Reply:Yes, they are. But it depends upon the variety, too.

I had a mixed bouquet, with a few cymbidium orchids in it.
Reply:Depends on the season, just before Easter, they are plentiful, and rather inexpensive. In April, when supply is low, they want to charge $18-20 per head (unless you order hundreds).
Reply:it really depends on the season.. if they are not in season they are very expensive. But if that is what you like. You can have a bouquet with just a few orchids. Your florist would be the best call.
Reply:Yes, the flowers themselves are quite expensive. Also they need to be wired to be put into a bouquet, so it costs more to have your florist put them together. They are probably one of the most expensive flowers to have for a wedding.
Reply:I believe they are the most expensive flower you can buy! BUT- maybe have a few in your bouquet with some greenery and then have matching color OTHER flowers for other stuff.
Reply:They are beautiful, but I would ask the florist about how long they can stay without wilting. I think they are temperamental flowers.
